Frequently Asked Questions

How tight should the collar feel?

Your collar should feel snug and supportive, but not painful. You should be able to breathe, swallow, and speak comfortably. If it feels too tight or too loose, adjust both blue straps evenly on each side.

Can I take the collar off to shower?

Only if your clinician has told you it is safe. If you must keep it on at all times, use a handheld shower or sponge‑bath method to keep the pads dry.

How often should I clean the pads?

Clean the pads every 24–48 hours, or sooner if they become sweaty or soiled. Always let pads air-dry completely before wearing them again.

What should I do if the collar starts to rub or irritate my skin?

Check that:

  • The pads fully cover all plastic edges
  • The collar is centered and snug, not overly tight
  • Pads are clean and dry

If irritation persists or skin becomes damaged, contact your clinician.

Is it normal for the collar to shift when I move?

Small movements are normal, but the collar should stay centered under your chin and around your neck. If it slips or gaps:

  • Re-center the chin in the chin tray
  • Re-tighten both straps evenly
  • Check that the back panel is midline

If you cannot achieve a comfortable fit, reach out to your clinician.

What if the collar gets wet?

Remove the damp pads and replace them with clean, dry ones.
Allow wet pads to fully air-dry before reuse.
Keep the plastic shell dry when possible.
