Össur South Africa’s What’s Your Epic campaign is a movement dedicated to empowering individuals living with limb loss. 

At its heart, What’s Your Epic is about more than athletic achievement—it’s about amplifying voices, challenging perceptions, and creating opportunities for people with limb loss to live life without limitations.

The campaign draws inspiration from the idea that everyone has their own epic—a challenge, dream, or journey that pushes them beyond what they thought possible. For some, it’s competing in a world-class race. For others, it’s simply regaining the ability to walk confidently, return to work, or chase after their children.

Through What’s Your Epic, Össur South Africa aims to change lives by:

Raising vital funds for three non-profit organisations (Jumping Kids, Rejuvenate SA, Zimele NPC)

Grow support for para cycling across South Africa

Showcase the limitless potential of amputees when given the right opportunities

These organisations are lifelines for many South Africans who lack access to specialised healthcare or prosthetic technology. By raising funds and awareness, the What’s Your Epic campaign aims to help extend their reach and amplify their impact.

Össur South Africa entered three teams into the prestigious 2025 Cape Epic mountain bike race, with each team representing and raising funds for one of the NPOs. These teams not only showcase the resilience of their riders but also shine a light on the important and essential work carried out by these organisations.

Launched in 2025, the campaign harnesses the power of sport, awareness, and collaboration to support nonprofit organisations (NPOs) that provide hope, mobility, and independence for amputees across South Africa.

Movement changes everything. It restores dignity, unlocks opportunity, and creates freedom. Yet thousands of amputees in South Africa still lack the resources they need to live independently and confidently.

What’s Your Epic is a call to action—for individuals, communities, and companies—to rally behind this mission. Every contribution helps ensure that more people living with limb loss have the chance to move freely, dream boldly, and redefine what’s possible.

Jumping Kids provides access to quality prosthetic equipment and rehabilitative care, mainstream education, and sports participation opportunities for children living with lower limb amputations or deficiencies from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. Their vision is to expand their reach by initiating projects to assist children living with lower limb amputations or deficiencies across South- and Southern Africa through engagement with industry partners, local communities, organizations and government.

Rejuvenate SA provides mobility to those who do not have the funds or means. They believe that being able to move is a basic human right for every individual. As such our aim is to get people mobile and active by whatever means necessary; whether by providing prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, crutches, or other mobility aids.

Zimele, meaning "independence" in Xhosa, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with physical disabilities to lead independent lives. Their mission is to help people regain autonomy, reintegrate into society, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. By restoring self-belief and fostering empowerment, Zimele enables them to overcome challenges and unlock their full potential beyond their disabilities.

Meet Rentia Retief and Jackie Church, two cyclists who took on the ABSA Cape Epic in support of Zimele NPC- a nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering adult amputees to lead independent lives.

Meet Luvan Cass and Travis Warwick-Oliver, two cyclists pushing their limits in the ABSA Cape Epic to represent Rejuvenate SA - an NPO they co-founded to provide mobility aids, rehabilitation, and holistic support.

Meet Dane Wilson and Reuben van Niekerk, two cyclists representing Jumping Kids - an NPO that equips children with limb loss with the prosthetic technology they need to run, play, and chase their dreams.
