Effective January 1, 2019, The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced a temporary gap to the Competitive Bidding Program (CBP). This means Medicare beneficiaries may receive a competitive bid item from any supplier until the CBP is updated and implemented.

The fee schedule for competitive bid items supplied during the temporary halt is calculated using the price for the item under the last competitive bid plus a consumer price index increase.
