Open Enrollment for Medicare Part C: Medicare Advantage Plans

Every year, people who are already enrolled in traditional Medicare have an option to enroll in a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan. The open enrollment period is October 15, 2021- December 7, 2021.

During this time frame, you will see ads and social media posts for the local MA plans. Many of the plans offer additional wellness benefits, such as gym membership or eye exams, to entice new enrollees. Since the enrollee pays only the same premium as original Medicare but is offered no co-pays and additional services, it is an appealing option. Helping your patients navigate through the options and fully understand which plan will best serve their O&P needs is a priority.

Talk to your patients about their options and help them review the specific O&P coverage and utilization requirements for each plan.

Identify which networks you participate with. In other words, let your patients know which plans will cover your services as in-network.
