On January 13, 2026, CMS announced several updates to the Master List, Required Face-to-Face and WOPD List, and Required Prior Authorization List in the Federal Register. This article will summarize the changes specifically related to orthotic and prosthetic devices, effective April 13, 2026.

What You Need to Know

Site visits are part of the Medicare enrollment process and are used to determine a supplier’s compliance with the DMEPOS supplier standards and other Medicare regulations. Starting January 3, 2026, CMS transitioned to two new National Site Visit Contractors, who are authorized to perform enrollment-related site verifications. Arch Systems, LLC is the new contractor for suppliers located East of the Mississippi River, and Signature Consulting Group is the new contractor for suppliers West of the Mississippi River. Each contractor may use subcontractors to perform inspections, but the site inspector will always have photo identification and a signed letter on CMS letterhead authorizing the visit. Site visits are unannounced and may take place during initial enrollment, revalidation, reactivation, change of information, or at any other time as deemed necessary.

What This Means for You

The shift to new site visit contractors means you may encounter differences in how site visits are carried out, including variations in inspector procedures, documentation requests, or approaches to operational verification. As Arch Systems, LLC and Signature Consulting Group begin conducting visits, you should expect them to bring their own workflows and methodologies, which may differ from those used by the previous contractors. Continuing to stay prepared for unannounced site visits will help you navigate this transition smoothly. If there are any concerns regarding the site visit or the validity of the inspector, please contact your respective National Provider Enrollment contractor: Palmetto GBA for the West and Novitas Solutions for the East.
