Andrea Lanfri

Mountaineer. Sprinter. Cyclist.

“The limits are just in our mind!”

Mountaineer. Sprinter. Cyclist. Paralympic athlete.

Andrea Lanfri was born in Lucca, Italy (1986). He was very active as a child and loved trekking and climbing in the mountains.
In 2015, Andrea lost both of his lower legs and seven fingers due to meningitis with meningococcal sepsis.

After a month in coma and while battling his illness in hospital, Andrea was determined to go back to the things he loved, and a mere one year later, he was on the track competing in sprinting and breaking Italian records. He subsequently won silver and bronze medals at the European (2016 and 2018) and World Championships in Para Athletics (2017).

"I don't have legs? Then I run!"

Andrea soon turned his attention back to his passion for mountain climbing and seven years after his illness, he stood on the top of Mount Everest with his climbing partner Luca Montanari. Andrea is the first person with multiple amputations to reach the summit of Mount Everest and he completed his mission on the Össur Pro-Flex® LP Align and Pro-Flex® XC feet and Iceross® liners.

Andrea is an accomplished mountaineer and through his #My7Summits project, his goal is to reach the seven highest peaks on each continent.
In addition to Mount Everest (2022), he has also summited Mont Blanc (2020), Mount Kilimanjaro (2022), Mount Kenya (2022), Mount Aconcagua (2023) and Mount Kosciuzko (2023).

In 2018 Andrea published his autobiography "Voglio correre più veloce della meningite” (I want to run faster than the meningitis), and in 2021 he published a second book : “Toccare il cielo con tre dita” (Touching the sky with 3 fingers) and in 2023 his third book: "Over".
