Furthermore, Össur also expects business partners and suppliers to help ensure that we continue to meet our commitment to responsible supply chain management, through regular audits efforts to make sure that human rights in its broadest sense are respected is part of our corporate social responsibility work

The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 became effective on January 1, 2012. The act declares that slavery and human trafficking are crimes under state, federal, and international law and requires that retailers and manufacturers doing business in the state of California disclose their efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking from their direct supply chain. The statements below are Össur’s response to this requirement:

  • Össur conducts a risk assessment in order to evaluate and address the risks of human trafficking and slavery when we conduct our annual comprehensive assessment of our product supply chain.
  • Össur conducts annual audits of our product suppliers to assess their compliance with our standards for suppliers, including those meant to eliminate trafficking and slavery in supply chain.
  • Product suppliers are instructed to follow a specific code of conduct, and all contracts with suppliers include clauses on human rights, hours of work, compensation, health and safety.
  • Since 2009, Össur has performed supplier’s evaluation and audits on its partners in Asia to further engage with suppliers to identify opportunities for improvement.
