FIOR & GENTZ
Founded in 1997 in Lüneburg (near Hamburg), Germany, FIOR & GENTZ is driven by a simple but powerful goal: to enable people with neurological and mobility impairments to move more freely, with greater confidence, dignity, and comfort.
FIOR & GENTZ develops, manufactures, and distributes high-quality system components (ankle joints, knee joints, side-bars, etc.), therapeutic shoes, orthosis shoes, and the materials/tools needed to build custom neuro orthoses.
Beyond joints, our mission touches lives — we see our work helping people stand more comfortably, reduce pain, avoid secondary health issues, and regain mobility. We believe that custom orthoses do more than support limbs — they support life.
In early 2024, FIOR & GENTZ entered a strategic partnership/acquisition with Össur (and operates under the Embla Medical umbrella) to reach more people globally while continuing to develop our neuro-orthotic innovations from our Lüneburg base.

NEURO HiTRONIC
The PDAC verified NEURO HiTRONIC, a microprocessor-controlled hydraulic system knee joint, offers orthotists unique advantages when producing and adjusting the orthosis. During stance as well as in stance phase during gait, the orthosis joint protects the knee from bending unintentionally using hydraulics. The patented microhydraulics make the orthotic joint small and light, allowing the KAFO to fit seamlessly under long garments.

NEURO TRONIC
The NEURO TRONIC system joint comes with a slim, anatomically shaped controller that contains all the electronics as well as the battery. The controller is discreetly integrated into the lower leg shell of the orthosis. The motion sensors in the controller register the position and movement of the lower leg and signal to the system knee joint when it should lock and unlock. The sensor data is processed 400 times per second by the high-performance microprocessor, which allows the system joint to react extremely quickly to situational changes when walking.
The new technology of the NEURO TRONIC system knee joint enables the patient to take the first step with the orthosis leg when changing from stance to gait. This is particularly useful for patients whose legs are both treated with an orthosis with stance and swing phase control, e.g. after bilateral paraplegia.
- Maximum Safety during Stance - The system joint detects small, unintentional steps during stance and remains locked
- First step is possible with left or right leg – prevents problems if both legs are treated
- Knee flexion occurs without resistance, thus achieving a reliable physiological knee bending in mid swing
NEURO HiSWING R+
The NEURO HiSWING R+ is the first electronic system ankle joint in orthotics – adaptive with microprocessor-controlled hydraulics. As with all system joints in the NEURO SWING product range, it is used to bring the patient into an upright position and improve the stability when walking and standing, e.g. in the case of a weakness or paralysis of the calf muscles (plantar flexors).
Thanks to its R+ functionality (R+ stands for "reaction" and means improved reaction options), this system ankle joint can be used to react quickly and easily to changing situations, for example: walking uphill and downhill, changing heel heights by switching shoes or walking up and down stairs. The integrated sensors, electronics and hydraulics enable the patient to walk safely and as naturally as possible.
With the addition of the NEURO HiSWING R+, the NEURO HiTRONIC becomes the first orthotic system to combine intelligent stance phase control with a MP alignable dynamic ankle joint —delivering comprehensive support for users with complex mobility challenges.

The carbon system joints allow patients to enjoy their outdoor activities without restrictions. The ultralight and durable carbon joint case and the seawater-resistant stainless steel screwing defy both wind and rain. An orthosis equipped with these system joints can also be worn on the beach and in the sea and used for many other activities. With the help of the matching system side bars and system anchors, it is possible to construct an ultralight yet fully functional orthosis that accompanies your patients safely in any weather.
