What Can I Bill if the Patient is in a SNF?

Posted by Linda Collins | April 02, 2018

If a patient is in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and has an order for a DMEPOS item, is it able to be billed separately to Medicare or is the SNF responsible for payment? This is a common question. CGS Medicare, the Region B and C MAC, recently announced a new online tool to help with the answer.

The Consolidated Billing Tool allows you to enter a HCPCS code and get information to determine if the item can be billed to Medicare. It also gives you information about billing if the patient is receiving home health care or enrolled in a hospice program.

You may access the tool here.

NOTE: this tool is on the Region B/C site but the information and details are applicable to all regions.
