Rescind the Draft LCD

Posted by Linda Collins | August 13, 2015

Congratulations to all of you who have signed the petition and have encouraged others to sign.

Easily access the petition at http://www.saveprosthetics.org. Be sure to click the confirmation email to activate the signature. We have some reports of people not receiving the confirmation email.

If you or your patients do not have access to email, you will need to print off the petition and mail it to the White House. Please do this only if you have challenges with email as we need online signatures to meet the threshold needed for a response from The White House.

All of us need to also contact our House Representatives and Senators. Once you have located your Representative/Senator, send a quick email asking for support in rescinding the proposed LCD. You can easily copy the wording from the online petition and paste it into the comment section of the email. Do this today and ask others to also send an email expressing their concerns.

You may want to download the petition and fax signed copies to your representatives. Here is another link to use in finding names, numbers and contact information.

Best practices from across the country:

  • Set up free email accounts on Gmail, Yahoo or similar. Use these accounts when patients sign the petition.
  • Ask patients to sign the online petition while they are in your office.
  • Look up the fax numbers for your Senators and Representatives. Have each patient sign the petition and fax it to these offices.
  • Ask patients to share the online petition with their family, friends, support groups and other healthcare professionals.
  • Use #NotaLuxury in your social media posts.
  • Contact local media.
  • Submit a letter to the editor of your local paper. List the link to the petition.

You may download a copy of the petition under the "Reimbursement Resources" section on this page.
