About the Authors


Karen Edwards

Karen Edwards is the Director of Ossur Women’s Leadership Initiative and a Senior Area Manager for Prosthetics with Ossur Americas in North Carolina.

She has ten years of experience in sales of both prosthetic and orthotic devices as well as significant experience with orthotic fitting. Prior to that, she spent six years as a marketing manager for an imaging center and 13 years as a media buyer in the advertising industry working with national accounts including General Motors, Sealy Mattresses and McDonalds. She was recently featured in the O&P Almanac.

She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and also studied creative writing at Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC.


Heather Hoover

Heather Hoover is the Director of Product Marketing at Össur in OA & Injury Solutions. Heather has worked at Össur for the past 8 years in various roles in the company. She is a certified orthotic fitter through the American Board of Certification and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in women’s studies from Pennsylvania State University. She also has her Master’s in Education from Drexel University. Heather resides in Mission Viejo, CA with her husband.

 


Marjorie Albohm

Marjorie is the Director of Össur Academy for OA&I and is responsible for education, clinical research and Fellowships in the Americas. She is a highly regarded speaker, lecturing on a range of musculoskeletal and sports medicine-related topics.

She has served on the medical staff for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, the 1991 World Gymnastics Championships, the 1988 Track and Field Olympic Trials, the 1987 Pan American Games, and the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid.

Guest appearances include The Today Show, CNN House Calls with Sanjay Gupta and ESPN Real Sports with Briant Gumbel. As an expert in the field, she is quoted frequently in trade journals, consumer periodicals and the media. She authored the book, Health Care and the Female Athlete, and co-authored Your Injury - A Common Sense Guide to Sports Injuries, and Reimbursement for Athletic Trainers.


Linda Collins, Director of Market Access

Linda Collins is the Director of Market Access in Össur’s Reimbursement Department.
In that role, she is responsible for helping identify and explore payer markets while also building relationships with those payers. Ms Collins has over 20 years experience in all phases of managed care including network development, sales, account management and claims/billing. 

Ms Collins has specialized in the DME/Medical Device field for the past ten years and has significant experience with non-surgical orthopedic devices.

She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from the University of Iowa and a Masters of Psychology from Arizona State University.  She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Psychology with an emphasis on Performance Psychology and the Challenged Athlete.


Julianne Gupta

Julianne Gupta is an ABC board certified Prosthetist Orthotist. She graduated from Northwestern University for prosthetics in 2009 and orthotics in 2011. She has been working at United Prosthetics in Boston, MA for the past seven years. She was interviewed and featured in the New York Times and seen on CNN Anderson Cooper helping fit Marathon Bombing amputees. She currently lives in Boston with her husband and one year old daughter.

 

 


Nina Bondre

Nina Bondre is a Board Eligible Prosthetist Orthotist who works at Dankmeyer Prosthetics & Orthotics in Linthicum, MD. She completed her MPO at Northwestern University in 2015. Nina has written several articles for the O&P EDGE and continues to explore other writing opportunities in the profession. She is looking forward to becoming more involved with AAOP and ÖWLI.
