Over 40 local challenged athletes gathered at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for an Össur Running and Mobility Clinic last Saturday, April 8. These free clinics are intended to help amputees achieve their running and mobility goals–whether that’s learning to walk again or fine-tuning their sprinting skills. Össur clinicians were also available to answer questions about our products and services.

Össur kicked off the event by presenting an Össur Flex-Run foot and Cheetah knee to Adelynn Klundby. Adelynn was born with Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency and will use her Flex-Run to run track. She said, “I want to be fast, especially when I play sports. I don’t always like being last and I have been working hard to strengthen my running.”

Sarah Reinertson, Team Össur, Team CAF, Paralympic athlete and Adelynn’s mentor, also attended the event. She holds World Records in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 5k and marathon races. She is the first transfemoral woman to complete the Ironman World Championship triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. Sarah was also born with PFFD and first met Adelynn at the Beaverton clinic in 2015. Beyond mobility, these clinics provide a space in which amputees and their families can connect with a larger community.

“We are pleased to be offering another Össur Running and Mobility Clinic presented by CAF on Nike’s campus again this year. Each year, we host a number of clinics like this across the nation, and they continue to grow in size and scale. We are inspired by Adelynn and her peers, and continue in our dedication to pioneer innovations that can help even more people enjoy life without limitations,” said Kim De Roy, CPO/PT, Vice President of Sales & Marketing and Education, Prosthetics for Össur Americas.

Össur has partnered with CAF for more than 20 years. Since 1971, the Icelandic company has been dedicated to developing technologies that help people enjoy ‘Life Without Limitations.’ Each year, hundreds of people with limb loss participate in Össur Running and Mobility Clinics presented by CAF across the U.S.

Össur has 5 more clinics scheduled for 2017. Check out the schedule and registration links here!
