Vari-Flex is a lightweight foot that still provides excellent dynamic response. Its slender profile also makes it especially useful if you want both a high-performing foot and a cosmetic cover over it.
NOTE: You can use Vari-Flex with the Unity vacuum system.
Daily activities involving gentle, steady walking with the use of a walking aid.
Example: Moving around at home, modest walking in the community.
Daily activities involving average walking with the ability to vary speed or walking pattern.
Example: Going to the shops, confident outdoor walking.

Adjustable heel height adapter for use with Talux and Variflex.
The Quick Align allows for easy adjustment of the heel height of the foot for different footwear, with 8º of movement and 3cm of heel height adjustment available at the push of a button.
How far and how long people can walk comfortably has always been dependent on the amount of energy they use. Vari-Flex means optimal energy efficiency and less pressure and fatigue.
Ideal for most activity, Vari-Flex replicates the functions of the human foot beautifully. Its extra smooth roll-over motion contributes to a more natural, symmetrical gait, which means less fatigue and ultimately less strain on the lower back and sound side of the body.
8 out of 9 amputees who trialed the Vari-Flex said they preferred it to their previous foot. And 9 out of 10reported a significant and positive differencewhen walking barefoot.
"On a scale of 0-5, I'd give it a 6!"
A big bonus for many people using this foot is the ease with which they can now walk barefoot. Most prosthetic feet are aligned for use with shoes, and removing them usually alters gait significantly. However in trials, users commented on improved stability in all types of situations, particularly when walking without shoes.
Made of specially layered carbon fiber for strength and functionality, the Vari-Flex is a lightweight, slender prosthetic that is easy to cover cosmetically. A durable, responsive foot, it has a split toe for enhanced stability. It is available in sizes 22-30cm and with a choice of beige or brown foot covers. A low profile Vari-Flex is also available for those with longer residual limbs.
If you think the Vari-Flex could be right for you, discuss it as an option with your prosthetist.

Vertical forces generated at heel contact are stored and translated into a linear motion described as Active Tibial Progression. This action reduces the need to actively push the body forward using the contralateral foot and also equalizes stride length.
Benefit: More natural gait and reduced walking effort.
The Carbon-X Active Heel stores the energy during loading response as the amputee transfers his or her body weight onto the prosthetic foot. Energy is gradually released from the heel providing optimal return for forward progression of the limb.
Benefit: Reducing impact to the joints and residual limb thus increases comfort, reduces joint and limb damage.
The full length keel/toe lever matches the length of the sound foot, providing improved support to the prosthetic limb during late stance. It ensures that users spend equal time on the prosthetic foot and natural limb, thus providing improved walking dynamics and reduced impact to the sound limb.
Benefit: Improved walking symmetry and reduced impact to the sound limb.
The layering of carbon fiber, optimized through extensive computer analysis and mechanical testing, ensures that the deflection of the carbon fiber heel and forefoot components are proportional to the user’s weight and impact level.
Benefit: Customized construction optimizes walking efficiency thus reducing fatigue for the user.
A split toe feature allows the foot to adjust to uneven surfaces, allowing amputees to walk with stability and comfort on uneven ground.
Benefit: Helps to maintain balance, stability and reduces peak impact during loading.
The use of first-rate material such as carbon fiber, titanium and high-grade aluminum provides permanent protection against harmful ingress of water. Even after submersion in water, the foot’s structural parts maintain their integrity and continue to provide full support, function and durability.
Benefit: No loss of prosthetic function under wet circumstances.
