Board of Directors

Kristjan Ragnarsson (b. 11/15/43) became a Member the Board in 1999. Ragnarsson has worked for many years in the United States. Since 1986, he has served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He has also been Chairman of the Faculty Practice Associates Board of Governors at Mount Sinai School of Medicine since 1997. Kristjan Ragnarsson graduated from the University Of Iceland's School of Medicine in 1969 and was certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 1976.

Niels Jacobsen, Chairman (b. 8/31/1957) joined the Ossur Board in 2005. He is President and CEO of William Demant Holding A/S and Oticon A/S, a Danish industrial group in the hearing healthcare field. Previous positions include President of Aktieselskabet Orion and Vice President, Corporate Affairs for both Atlas Danmark A/S and Thrige-Titan A/S. Jacobsen is also a board member of numerous Danish companies and organizations, including Novo Nordisk, Nielsen & Nielsen Holding and Sennheiser Communications. He is Chairman of the Board of the Hearing Instrument Manufacturers Patent Partnership A/S and holds a seat on the Central Board of the Confederation of Danish Industries. Niels Jacobsen has an MSc in Economics from the University of Aarhus in Denmark.

Ossur Kristinsson (b. 11/5/43) is the founder of the Company. He has served on the Board of Directors since 1971 and was Managing Director of Ossur from 1971 to 1989. Kristinsson studied prosthetics in Sweden and was accredited by the Swedish Board of Certification for Prosthetics and Orthotics in 1971.

Thordur Magnusson, Vice Chairman (b. 5/15/49) became a Member of the Board in 2005. He is the Chairman and principal shareholder of the investment company Eyrir, founded in 2000. Magnusson holds a seat on the Boards of a number of Icelandic companies, including the retail companies Byko and  Kaupas. He is also Chairman of the Board at Marorka, an energy-efficiency systems company.
Thordur Magnusson was CFO at Eimskip for over 20 years. He graduated with a Business degree from the University of Iceland in 1974 and holds an MBA from the University of Minnesota.

Svafa Gronfeldt joined the board in 2008. She is the President of Reykjavik University and member of the Board of Directors of Landsbankinn hf. She worked at Actavis Group 2004-2007, the last two years as Deputy to the CEO. Svafa was Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the University of Iceland 1997-2000 and Managing Director and Managing Partner of IMG Gallup/Deloitte 1995-2004. Svafa holds a doctorate in Industrial Relations from London School of Economics since 2000.
