Ana Chavira's Diary
This is Ana's story
Hi. My name is Ana Chavira and I am Mexican. I was 16 years old when I was diagnosed with cancer in my right knee. My life was turned upside down when, in September 1997, amputation surgery was decided upon.

At that moment I thought my life had ended, that I would never be an independent person again and would spend my whole life sitting in a wheelchair. But in the last eight years I've found out that disability is a matter of attitude, that there are huge and great opportunities to have a life without limitations.
I invite you to read my story - how, as part of my work modelling for Ossur, I have had the chance to meet and help many people who are in a situation similar to my own. As you read the next few pages and future excerpts from my diary, I hope that you will find a way to improve your quality of life.
My life has changed so much over the last few years, but, incredible as it may seem, I'm a very happy person, who really loves being alive and having so many chances. I choose to believe that I lost my leg for a reason and I've decided to make that reason worthwhile.
Hope you enjoy reading my diary pieces in the future.
