In March 2004, Marie-Amélie Le Fur was the victim of a serious accident on her scooter and had to undergo an amputation of her left leg below the knee.
Most of her sporting rehabilitation was carried out in the swimming pool, thanks to Cyrille Nivault (her trainer) and Emmanuel Janus, both professional firemen in France.
After 4 months of difficult rehabilitation, during August 2004, Marie-Amélie was brought to the track to try to run again.
At the same time she was asked to play a role in the movie “Celle qui reste” produced by Kien Productions and thanks to them, she received her first sports prostheses for running.
Her first competitions in disabled sports took place in 2005 and in January 2006 she won her first race in 200m at the French Championships and established a new French record. But an even greater achievement was realized at the beginning of July 2006 at the IPC World Championships in Assen in the Netherlands where she won two silver medals in the 100m and 200m and established a new World record in the 800m.
At the Paralympic Games in Bejing in 2008, Marie Amélie won two silver medals in Long Jump and 200m Sprint.
In 2011 she won two Gold medals in the 100m and 200m at the IPC Athletics World Championship in New Zealand.
Marie-Amélie uses the Flex-Foot Cheetah and Iceross Seal-In X5 Liners.
