New Frontiers in Osteoarthritis Research, Prevention and Treatment

Össur is committed to furthering the level of education and quality of health-related knowledge among professionals, patients and their families. As part of that initiative, Össur recently hosted an Osteoarthritis Summit at The New York Academy of Sciences with participation from the Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI), American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) and other acclaimed medical experts.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is an epidemic which nearly half the adult population in the U.S. is expected to develop in their lifetimes. The summit's presentations and case study highlighted the effectiveness of non-surgical treatments for OA, including bracing, lifestyle modification and other important recommendations for reducing pain, decreasing the use of pain medication, and increasing the mobility and overall quality of life for OA sufferers.
