Setback for Shirley

Team Ossur's Paralympic gold medallist Marlon Shirley has had to pull out of the Visa Paralympic World Cup this weekend. The American sprinter has a hamstring injury and is unable to compete. Our commiserations Marlon - we wish you a speedy recovery!
Visitors to the World Cup in Manchester, UK, please note that the athletics program will now start at 11.55am, earlier than previously billed.

Oscar Pistorius is now a member of Team Ossur

Oscar Pistorius is fast becoming known as the "fastest thing on no legs"! A double amputee, the 18-year-old Oscar is still a school boy in Pretoria, South Africa. He is also a world record holder over 100, 200 and 400 metres.

Helping others to help themselves

Losing a limb is difficult for anyone, but picture yourself as a refugee; traumatized, homeless and fleeing from conflict. You have nowhere to turn for prosthetic care and, without artificial limbs, you have little hope of sustaining yourself or your family. Move on up!

The legendary physical therapist Bob Gailey flew into Manchester last week to work with the British Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Amputee Rehabilitation (BACPAR). Hugely successful, the national workshop sponsored by Ossur was, in Bob's words, about "a coming together of physios and prosthetists in order to give our patients more mobility and a better outcome".

Ready to run

Keith Klein was one of the very first contributors to Ossur's Walk Tall forum some two and a half years ago. His son Tomas was born with no tibiae and had to undergo bilateral through-the-knee amputation. Today Tomas is a lively four-year-old and the Klein family are getting ready to go to CAF’s San Diego Triathlon Challenge. Keith charts the family's progress…
